Binyavanga Wanaina myopic viewpoint expressed on the BBC for Africa website, is a well versed and articulate fiction rendition of an African apologist for Africa's woe's, that would rather embrace the Chinese path to development while it suppresses the basic human rights of its people for the sake of the status quo. Binyavanga epitomizes the egocentric habit of shooting one's foot while sticking the other foot in the mouth. What's unfair about reporting on the genocide in Rwanda, the civil war in Sudan; Mugabe's dictatorship in Zimbabwe or M7's hybrid democracy in Uganda? The Distinguished African writer would rather have the world not talk about the dark side of more than 40 years of kleptocratic self governance thats largely to blame for Africa's woes. Many of our brightest, innovative and creative sisters and brothers live in the diaspora because of the heavy handed, single minded ubiquitous systems of leadership found in most african countries. How can Mr. Binyavanga's viewpoint represent the reality in Africa in spite of the above incontrovertible facts?
